Need a spot to spend your weekend, some tasty treats, and a show that’s really interesting to watch? Netflix just had all the right ingredients. Nemesis is set to release 89 percent fresher on May 14, 2026, and already has an impressive score on Rotten Tomatoes.
What Is Nemesis

Nemesis: Cat and Mouse Crime thriller set throughout Los Angeles, of a dogged LAPD detective and a cunning criminal mastermind whose lives cross paths in a deadly fashion. It’s the night of Think Power meets Heat, but it’s nothing by accident in any given episode.
Meet the Two Leads

Matthew Law of Abbott Elementary is the LAPD Lieutenant Isaiah Stiles. Y’lan Noel, the face of the Showtime comedy Insecure, plays ex-convict turned businessman Coltrane Wilder, who continues to conduct highly cunning heists at the behest of his close-knit team in Los Angeles, while keeping a low profile from everyone.
The Core Rivalry

A blood feud that has persisted to the present day for a hundred years, and a man never stops, said creator Tani Marole. Isaiah perceives the world in black and white! Coltrane works in all shades of grey. It’s actually very entertaining TV from start to finish, given the eight episodes in which those two worldviews clobber just about each other.
Power Meets Heat

Nemesis is a massive remake of Michael Mann’s terrific 1995 film Heat, as much as the spectacular nighttime burglary meeting a high-stakes shoot-out on the streets of Century City. With the DNA that made her Power Universe so adored by fans around the globe, it’s no wonder that Courtney A. Kemp is the co-creator behind the show.
Who Created This

Nemesis was co-created by Courtney A. Kemp, renowned creator of the Power franchise. The series was announced in March, 2025 by Netflix. Mario Van Peebles makes himself known throughout the entire season as executive producer and as the director of the first two episodes.
The Supporting Cast

Cleopatra Coleman, Gabrielle Dennis, Domenick Lombardozzi, Tre Hale, Ariana Guerra, and Michael Potts complete the stellar cast. Across all eight episodes, the show’s memorable action scenes and performances by its cast were lauded by Collider.
What the critics are saying

The Guardian gave Nemesis 4 out of 5 stars, and it was ridiculously entertaining. It was the scorchingly original storytelling they singled out for praise in New York Magazine. Facing its first full streaming weekend with a critical consensus so far of 89 percent on Rotten Tomatoes based on eight reviews, there’s no doubt that it’s a huge success.
Eight Episodes and One Weekend

The eight-episode Nemesis is now available on Netflix, with each installment clocking in about an hour. You could watch the whole season in one sitting -it’s the ideal length, no padding, stories, and it is a mind roller from the start to the finish.
Anticipation of the long run

Nemesis does not come as a limited series. But co-creator Courtney A. Kemp told Decider that there’s more of a story that the show will continue to tell -and that means it’s more of a self-contained series than a one-season series, with a definitive ending.
Season 2 Still Unconfirmed

Netflix has not officially announced a second season, but the series is expected to return for its second season. It all hinges on the viewers in the next few weeks. To be fair, early indications of the show are quietly and truly promising as Kemp’s loyal Power fan following her to Netflix has garnered the momentum the show desperately wanted.
