As the year 2026 drew to a close, streaming services and TV networks kept making key playout decisions, renewing popular shows and ending a number of long-running television series. The changes were in response to audience demand, viewing habits, and changing content plans throughout Hollywood. Whether it’s an acclaimed drama, a popular comedy, or a franchise series, here are nine shows that were announced for renewal and/or cancellation for the year.
The Pitt

Status: Renewed for season 2
After positive feedback and ratings, Max revived the medical drama The Pitt for a second season. With Noah Wyle as the host, the series was an instant hit and one of the best original dramas on the platform.
Paradise

Status: Renewed for season 2
Following its successful premiere, Hulu renewed Dan Fogelman’s political thriller Paradise. The show with Sterling K. Brown as the lead received positive reviews for its creative mystery plot and stellar acting.
Slow Horses

Status: Renewed through season 7
Apple TV+ maintained its faith in Slow Horses with another season being announced that went past the previously announced six. Gary Oldman’s Oscar-winning acting is still a major attraction of the series.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

Status: Renewed (seasoned 2 confirmed)
Even before the first season aired, HBO announced a second season for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, showing their faith in another tale in George R. R. Martin’s fantasy world.
The Diplomat

Status: Renewed for season 4
Keri Russell stars in the political drama that Netflix renewed for a fourth season, The Diplomat. It was an early release of the brand-new season.
The Wheel of Time

Status: Cancelled
After three seasons, Prime Video chose not to continue The Wheel of Time. The fantasy crossover saw a passionately loyal cast and a vision of a fourth season, but it never materialized.
Frasier

Status: Cancelled
Paramount+ ended the revival of Frasier after two seasons. The modern continuation reunited Kelsey Grammer with the iconic character while introducing a new supporting cast.
FBI: Most Wanted

Status: Cancelled
In the wake of other programming decisions, CBS dropped FBI: Most Wanted after its six-season run. The series was one of the network’s hit crime dramas in the FBI genre.
FBI: International

Status: Cancelled
FBI: International will not have a new season as the series was canceled by CBS. The show concluded after its fourth season, with CBS opting to trim the franchise to make room for new projects.
