The most notorious Bollywood films that were on the hit-and-run list are Mughal-E-Azam, Love and God, and Pakeezah. In Hindi films, elaborate production difficulties, changing actor casts, budget constraints, and personal misfortunes have often resulted in long-running development hell for films of immense talent.
Mughal-E-Azam (1960)

K. Asif started to plan this magnum opus in 1944. The Partition of India in 1947, financial issues, and the entire redevelopment of the main characters brought the production to a standstill.
Love and God (1986)

They began production in 1963. The film was haunted by the sudden deaths of its leading actor, Guru Dutt, and the director K. Asif. In addition, in 1986, the uncompleted footage was revived by Asif Karim’s widow, who patched the missing links and released it as a tribute.
Pakeezah (1972)

The marital separation of director Kamal Amrohi and lead actress Meena Kumari put the project on ice for years. Realizing Meena Kumari’s health was rapidly deteriorating due to liver cirrhosis, fellow actors persuaded the duo to finish the film, releasing it just weeks before her passing.
Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva (2022)

The movie was initially announced by the director Ayan Mukerji in 2014, and went into a lengthy pre-production period because of the complex conceptual building, script rewrites, and unprecedented demands on the VFX.
Mehbooba (2008)

It has been shot since 2000 under the direction of Afzal Khan and with the participation of Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgn, and Manisha Koirala. Multiple production delays, caused by financial problems and scheduling issues with the big names, eventually halted production. In 2008, the movie was finished and released without a lot of fanfare.
Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam (2002)

In 1996, this film, which was later changed to Hum Aapke Hain Sanam, was announced with a host of stars, but went on changing every aspect of the film, including the script, re-shoots, and the title. The film was an above-average success at the box office when it was released in 2002, according to the Mint report.
Tumbbad (2018)

The film’s production process began in 2012, although the actual writing process began as early as 1997. The director, Rahi Anil Barve, has actually shot it in between four successive monsoons, that is, to capture a particular visual ambiance, and the initial shoot has been completely discarded, and the whole film has been re-shot.
Milenge Milenge (2010)

The shooting of the film started in 2004. The unplanned real-life breakup of its lead duo, Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, has thrown a spanner in the works. The actors, in turn, set aside their differences and completed the postponed dubbing.
Jagga Jasoos (2017)

Production on Anurag Basu’s musical comedy-drama started in 2013. With the constant changes to the script, real-time improvisation of music, on-set hurdles, and lead actors Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif’s high-profile relationship hurdle, there was no end to the delays.
Ye Lamhe Judaai Ke (2004)

The shooting took place in 1994 and was under the working title Jadoo. The production was shut down midway because of significant economic conflicts and creative differences between the producers.
