The film was helmed by Homi Adajania and is boasting a solid start in business with a true crowded release schedule, starring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna. Cocktail 2 opened on June 19 with Rs 13.5 crore in net collections on day one. The film then added Rs 16.25 crore on its first Saturday, pushing its two-day domestic net total up to Rs 29.75 crore before the weekend had even wrapped up.

By the end of its third day, Cocktail 2’s net collection across India had reached approximately Rs 47.50 crore, spread over 31,542 shows nationwide, according to trade tracker Sacnilk. This translates to an estimated Rs 17.75 crore added on day three alone, indicating a strong performance for a weekend release.
Gross Collections Push It Toward a Big Milestone
Grossing in India, Cocktail 2 has grossed Rs 57 crore while grossing abroad, it was able to gross Rs 19.25 crore, and has grossed Rs 76.25 crore so far in the world. At that rate, the film will be in the global $100 crore club even before the first week is finished.

Cocktail 2 isn’t exactly enjoying a quiet run at the box office. It’s currently sharing screens with Bobby Deol’s Bandar, the Hollywood horror import Obsession, Imtiaz Ali’s Main Vaapas Aaunga, and Vikram Bhatt’s Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past, all competing for the same audience and screen count.

The sequel follows Diya and Kunal, a couple who’ve been together for over a decade without feeling any real need to formalize things with marriage. To dodge the usual wedding-season pressure from family and society, the two head off to Italy for an extended vacation together.
How Critics Are Reacting
Reviews so far have been fairly mixed. One criticism was that the story is so thin that Kriti Sanon has maximum room to act as she pleases, while her character at times has a lot of things to say in line with Deepika Padukone’s of the original. Shahid Kapoor’s performance too has been criticized for the lack of utilization of one of the most experienced actors in the cast in a passive role.

The original Cocktail released back in 2012 with Deepika Padukone, Saif Ali Khan, and Diana Penty in the lead roles. It had a mixed reception at the time but went on to pick up a loyal following over the years, remembered mostly for Pritam’s soundtrack and Padukone’s breakout performance.
