The horror movie was made for less than the reported $750,000 and has grossed over $305 million globally, according to Box Office Mojo. The excellent run has put it ahead of some of the other great horror movies, including those released recently and those that have been part of the genre for a long time. These are some of the films that Obsession has surpassed during its theatrical release.
Scream 7 (2026)
Box Office Mojo reports that Obsession has already outdone Scream 7’s worldwide numbers. Significantly, Scream is one of the most recognisable horror franchises, while Obsession is an original independent horror film.
Backrooms (2026)
Obsession has also outpaced another 2026 horror movie that had garnered a lot of buzz online prior to its theatrical release, Backrooms, which is also set for release in that year.
Iron Lung (2026)

The Blair Witch Project (1999)
Obsession has earned more worldwide than The Blair Witch Project, one of the most influential independent horror films ever made. According to Box Office Mojo, The Blair Witch Project made around $248 million worldwide, but that is now surpassed by Obsession.
